When I was a little girl, I used to make wedding dresses for my Barbies out of paper towels. I remember Scotch-taping scraps of tissue paper to her head for the veil and trying to rip the bottom of the napkin to angle the hemline. Now, with modern wedding dress masters like Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Caroline Herrera, and Monique Lhuillier designing bridal collections for her, the days of the home-made Barbie wedding dress are long-gone. So of course it was only a matter of time before Barbie got her designer wedding to go with her designer gown.
Inspired by pretty much all of the current trends in wedding photography, last summer French photographer Beatrice de Guigne put together a “Real Wedding” photo shoot for Barbie, Ken and their closest besties. This shoot cracks me up- all of the Inspiration Wedding Blog elements are there: the shoe shot, girlfriends getting ready shot, the vintage soft-focus hand-holding shot. Oh, and the ubiquitous vintage props shots (stack of books and old frame, anyone?). Priceless! Here are the details behind their magical day: “Barbie & Ken were married at Faraway Castle, in Plasticity. The bride bought her dress from The Fairy Godmother shop and her shoes from the Cinderella Store. The groom wore a suit from The Prince Charming Emporium. The couple met more than 50 years ago (yes I know they look young). Barbie was tired of waiting so she asked Ken to get married.” Take a look:

I love it, how clever & hilarious!!
Oh, this puts every single Ken-and-Barbie wedding I ever staged to absolute SHAME. I’m laughing so hard. Somebody once gave me a little harp music box as a gift - I’d absolutely donate it to Beatrice’s cause so Skipper can provide the music for Barbie and Ken’s vow renewal ceremony.
Oh my god, adorable!!!!
Ae you kidding! I LOVE these photos!!! SOOO clever & soooo cute;)
