paris spa treatments for men

I originally posted this a few years back, but a recent string of inquiries has prompted me to repost these resources on where a guy can find a good spa treatment in Paris:

paris spa treatments for men

I received an email the other day from a groom-to-be in the U.S. who was frustrated because he couldn’t find information online about spa treatments for men in Paris. He and his Merry Band of Metrosexuals are foregoing the stereotypical Stag Night in Paris in Pigalle, and have chosen instead to spend the day before his Parisian wedding getting primped and pampered. His future bride is understandably ecstatic… Having had the pleasure of witnessing those bands of drunken bachelors first-hand when I lived near Pigalle in my former life, I sooo appreciate Groom-To-Be’s discretion. So here you go, boys. Kimmy’s just happy to help:

The Four Seasons Hotel: The spa in the Four Seasons George V features a full menu of treatments for men, including the “It’s a Man’s World”, which includes a green tea refresher, facial, herbal deep cleansing back treatment, Swedish massage and a classic manicure or pedicure. Served with green tea.

Institut Marc Delacre: Located on Avenue George V, this was the first institut for hair and beauty treatment in Paris that was conceived entirely for men.

Nickel :This trendy man’s spa in the Marais promises “Serious Skin Care for Men” (wipe that smirk off of your face, this instant!)

Il Fait Beau: Also located in the Marais, Il Fait Beau offers massages, laser hair removal, mani-pedis, and teeth whitening to help keep beautiful men looking their best.

Alain, Maitre Barbier: This is an old-fashioned Parisian barber shop (and museum) where you’ll be treated to a rasoir a l’ancienne with a sharpened straight razor and hot towel treatment.  Alain also gives private lessons in the art of shaving…

And for you boys who may not have quite tapped into your inner-Beckham just yet…Here are a few products that can be ordered online for a French spa night chez vous (attention: this idea might not go over so well for your bachelor night, but would be great for a couples night in…)

Be sure to follow me on Twitter @parisianparty because tomorrow, Saturday, October 17th, I will be tweeting “en direct” from the Salon du Mariage at the Carrousel du Louvre. One of the better of the Paris wedding shows, the Salon du Mariage au Carrousel du Louvre highlights many of the top designers, venues, caterers, and other wedding industry professionals in Paris.  I’ll be in the thick of it, iphone in hand, bringing you all of the latest Parisian wedding trends, from tabletop to fashion design.  And speaking of fashion design- there are several fabulous runway shows scheduled throughout the day  which will feature the latest collections from French wedding dress designers Ana Quasoar, Max Chaoul, Delphine Manivet and more.  Take a look at the exhibitors on the Salon’s website, and feel free to send me a tweet if there’s something that you want to take a closer look at.  Otherwise, I’ll see you at the Salon!

Last Minute Valentine’s Day Gifts in Paris

February 11, 2009

Hey boys, I hope that you know that just because you’re in Paris on Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean that you’re off the hook as far as sweets for your sweets are considered. Call me old-fashioned (or spoiled and greedy), but on February 14th, I say “Eiffel Tower, Schmeiffel Tower. Où sont mes bonbons?” With less than 72 hours (and only 3 lunch-breaks!) before V-Day, here are some last minute Parisian Valentine’s Day ideas:

Assorted Chocolates from La Maison du Chocolat : Passion Fruit, Raspberry, MilkParis La Maison du Chocolat Chocolate, Basil (???)- This mixed-bag of deliciousness from one of Paris’ most chic chocolate boutiques is a classically sweet way to say “Je T’aime”.

Swarovsky CRYSTALIZED™ from Ladurée: Maybe you’re not ready to “go there” quite yet, or maybe you’ve already gone. Either way, Ladurée has the perfect suite for your sweet: A series of 3 crystal-encrusted boxes of their famous macarons. With a choice of “Love Me”, “Marry Me?”, or “In Love Soon”- I advise that you choose wisely before offering this little token of love, or the day may end up costing you much more than a box of purple cookies!

Champagne Ruinart ParisIf the Ladurée scenario has got you all in a tizzy, why not opt for a girl’s second best friend: Champagne? The name of this gift pack from Ruinart is Ma Douce Moitié, My Sweet Half, and comes with 2 demi bottles of Ruinart champagne (a blanc and a rosé) and 2 champagne flutes engraved with the same text.

Chocolate, Champagne, whimsical marriage proposals… What if you’ve been there and done all that, but still want to give your honey a unique and sentimental something on St. Valentine’s Day? Consider a box of “Sweetheart” tea and a hand-blown glass teapot from Mariage Frères. As it steeps, each heart-shaped bud blossoms into a ring of jasmine flowers topped by a red rose. Sophisticated as well as pleasantly surprising, this is a gift that can be enjoyed for weeks after V-Day has passed.

Not in Paris this Saturday? Luckily enough, most of these products are available online and can be shipped worldwide. Enjoy!
