Green Weddings in Paris: Rent a Wedding Dress

If you’re planning a trip to Paris, and are tossing around the idea of an impromptu wedding or vow-renewal ceremony while you’re here- I’ve got a great resource for you: Graine de Coton is a sweet little boutique in the 15th arrondissement where you can buy or rent a wedding dress at a fraction of its’ retail price. The shop also rents gently-owned bridesmaids, flower girl and ring bearer outfits and accessories. And for the last-minute “Bride’s best friend”, witness or guest: the shop carries a nice selection of evening and party dresses, too.  Keep in mind that besides being affordable and practical, a pre-owned wedding dress is a great eco-friendly option for a Green Wedding in Paris.

A Great Gift Idea for a Green Wedding in Paris

green weddings in parisDid you realize that the average domestic wedding with 100 guests emits around 6.5 tons of CO2?  Now add on the additional airline travel if you’re planning a destination event, and you’ll see why it’s so important to consider going “green” for your  celebration.  One cool way to offset your wedding in Paris is by registering with, or offering a gift from Liste VerteListe Verte is a Paris-based garden shop that offers an online wedding registry service for couples who want to go “green” in Paris. You can create your list from Liste Verte’s huge inventory of plants and flowers. Your friends and family then access the list directly on  www.listeverte.com to either purchase specific plants or flowers, or to contribute to your wedding account. For up to one year after your wedding date, you can then use your account to purchase everything you need to help your garden, terrace or balcony to flourish. Liste Verte only delivers in France right now, but this is a popular idea that’s spreading worldwide. If your local garden center doesn’t already provide a wedding registry service, perhaps you can convince them to start one.

DIY Romantic French Wedding Place Cards

Here’s a cute way to incorporate the French custom of offering guests almond dragées as wedding favors: Use them on place setting cards!  First, collect some large, pretty leaves- something hearty with a rich, uniform color, like ivy or ficus. Using a thin blade, make 2 small cuts towards one side of each leaf. Slide a dragée between the 2 cuts, write the guests name on the leaf using a paint pen, et voila! Not only is this an easy way to add a sweet frenchy touch to your wedding, it’s also an inexpensive and romantic accent for a “green” wedding or garden party.
