chic parisian party cocktail: sushi plaza colada

Say you’ve only got one night to spend in Paris. You’ve already decided that you’re going to get as much out of the night as you possibly can, and will just sleep on the plane on the way back home.  The night is your oyster, but where to begin?  Why don’t you pop into the chic, elegant and oh, so Parisienne Bar du Plaza Athénée for a Sushi Plaza Colada while you’re laying out your game plan?  What’s a Sushi Plaza Colada you ask? Basically, it’s a chic Parisian cocktail that you can eat! Created by celebrated Parisian mixologist Thierry Hernandez, the Plaza Colada is made up of six melt-in-the-mouth marshmallows infused with rum, pineapple juice and coconut milk topped by several delicate, wafer-thin slices of pineapple.  Using chopsticks, you dip the “sushi” in a Pina Colada syrup,  then into crisp, finely-powdered coconut, and then bon appetit– or should I say tchin-tchin?

chic parisian party cocktail: le cointreau teese

dita von teese, paris

dita von teese, paris

After taking Paris by storm in her showcase appearance at the Crazy Horse, burlesque diva Dita Von Teese was honored earlier this year by French beverage company Cointreau with the creation of le Cointreau Teese-  a high glam mixture of apple, Cointreau and violet.

Now, just in time to be added to your “Naughty or Nice”  list, Cointreau has unveiled the Cointreaupolitan Box-  designed by Mademoiselle Von Teese herself. This sexy little gift box is lined in the hottest pink, and houses a set of cocktail glasses, a shaker, and a bottle of Cointreau. Oh, and my favorite part- it plays “La Vie En Rose” when you open it!

In Paris, the Cointreapolitan Box will be available from December 8th,  and in limited quantities sold exclusively through Lavinia at Madeleine.  Le Cointreau Teese on the other hand, is available chez vous whenever you want it, using this simple recipe:

le cointreau teese

1 ½ ounces Cointreau

¾ ounce apple juice

½ ounce Monin Violet syrup

½ ounce fresh lemon juice

Slice of ginger.

Rub the edge of a chilled martini glass with the ginger slice, then discard the ginger. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well, and strain into the glass.

chic parisian party cocktail: lavender lemonade

Here’s a delicious recipe from Allisa & Ryan at Design Sponge’s French-inspired wedding: French Lavender Lemonade. This signature boisson was invented for their wedding by the talented folks at San Ysidro Ranch in Southern California:

lavender_lemonade_1INGREDIENTS:

Glass:

1.5oz Vodka

1.5oz Lillet Blanc

1oz Lavender Syrup (recipe below)

1oz Lemon Juice

2oz Chilled Soda Water

French Lavender Flower for Garnish

Pitcher (makes 4 glasses):

3/4 Cups Vodka

3/4 Cups Lillet Blanc

1/2 Cup Lavender Syrup

1/2 Cup Fresh Lemon Juice

1/4 Cup Chilled Soda Water for each glass

French Lavender Flower for Garnish

Lavender Syrup:

Add equal parts sugar and water to a medium saucepan and bring to boil. Add fresh organic French lavender to taste (or 1/2 cup dried food grade lavender for every 4 cups water/4 cups sugar) and boil for one minute over medium/high heat. Remove from heat and let steep for an hour.

Drink:

Mix first four ingredients with spoon, pour over ice, add chilled soda water and garnish with lavender flower (or lemon wedges if you can’t find fresh organic lavender).
