“Start a blog” must be number 2 on the official “to do” list given out to American expats when they land at CDG. Americans in Paris are blogging about cooking, eating, drinking, reading, studying, parenting, photographing…if you can name it, I’m sure there is an American here doing it, and then rushing home to blog about it!
My name is Kim Petyt, and I’m an American wedding planner in Paris. I’ve been planning events for almost 10 years, both in the U.S. and in France, and own an agency called parisianevents. I cater to the Anglophone community in Paris - people who either live here on a long-term basis, or come to Paris especially for their special celebration. Since I’ve been planning weddings and events here, I’ve noticed that while Americans love to host their parties in Paris (for all of the obvious reasons that you would think - the beauty, history, glamour, elegance, etc.) they still tend to have certain “American Expectations” that they’re not ready to sacrifice- not even for Paris!
This particular blog is all about bringing you the info that you need to plan your fabulous Parisian fête- with a handful of “Anglo” thrown in for flavor! Each entry will highlight a special venue, vendor or entertainer, as well as bring you a fun parisian party tidbit- perhaps a great gift idea, a sneak peak at a new shop or venue opening, or a myriad of other items or ideas. The items that are featured in this blog are things that I like from a variety of sources, so if you know of a great vendor or resource that you think would interest parisian party, please shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
