New French Wedding Magazine Giveaway

There’s a new wedding magazine on the newsstands here in France, and I am loving it! Called Forever, this glossy is like “InStyle Weddings” with a delicious dollop of Parisian flair. Chock full of fashion, beauty and planning advice, I think Forever’s strongest selling point is their “Real Weddings”-type column called Témoinages, (”witnesses” in French).French wedding style Fresh and modern pictorials of stylish weddings shot all over France, followed by a “Get This Look” page of resources- très trendy and pratique, non?

I’ve posted before about the differences between American and French wedding magazines, and I think that Forever Magazine definitely shortens the gap between the two. There’s still nary a mention of flowers or bouquets (what’s up with that?), but this issue does dare to dip its pinkie-toe into the vast ocean of DIY: even if it is just a sponsored article on personalizing your place settings. My one concern is that this first issue is so lovely, so well layed-out, and so full of really useful information, the following issues will seem flimsy in comparison. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, I have 3 copies of Forever Magazine that I would like to give away. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your best idea for a Parisian-themed wedding. Is there a pastry, dish or drink concoction that just screams Paris to you? Have you seen or dreamed of a bouquet, centerpiece or invitation that you think would give any wedding that perfect touch of La Belle France? Write in by next Wednesday, March 25, when I will randomly pick three names to receive a copy of this gorgeous new magazine. Please be sure to leave me your email address or a blog with a profile so that I can find you if your name is drawn.

The best thing about any themed event is the food. You can have a great themed event without incorporating the perfect dishes. I would love to see a Parisian event with all of the great food Paris is known for. Not only would the event visually take you to Paris, it should also taste like Paris!

Thanks Kim for this great blog!

Any Paris-inspired event should, of course, have wonderful French music. There are so many choices perfect for a wedding :)

How about a wedding where the bridesmaids wore Moulin Rouge costumes! :-)

One of the biggest charms to me in Paris are all the little fruit stands with the berries arranged like jewels. For the escort cards, I’d do a mini fruit stand, using rows of those cute little green paper boxes filled with different colored berries, and arrange the cards on little toothpicks. (I’m planning my wedding in Normandie, so I just may do this!)

A Paris inspired wedding would be regal. Silver, crystal, blacks and white colors with a pop of either Red or Magenta. Elaborate scrolls and curly Q’s and roses! De toute beauté!

The ultimate Parisan-themed wedding must begin with a haute couture invitation, embellished with Swarvoski crystals and feathers all layered upon duiponi silk. The decor should include large ostrich plumes, lots of crystals and of course the colors pink and champagne!

Hi Kim. You can probably guess what I feel makes a Parisian wedding unique…..hmmmm….The photography.

There is nothing more memorable than spending 15-20 minutes with a couple outdoors at a Parisian cafe, enjoying a nice cafe creme, talking, then quietly moving around snapping photos that capture moments and the special atmosphere. You can never predict what will happen in the background, but the result is often quite special.

The occasion is saved forever in a photo.

I would love a wedding in a private yacht traveling along the Seine. How great would that be?! An intimate affair, actually on the heart of the city (the river), and a great way to get multiple views of the city.

My grandmother is from France and i would love to incorporate some French wedding traditions like croquembouche and the silk veil into my wedding. She did not have a tradition French wedding, as she was married during war time. My mother wore the same veil that she did when she got married and i will wear it at my wedding as well. It was passed down from my great-grandmother.
