DIY Parisian Place Cards

French wedding decorations

I was impressed by this sweet and simple idea that I saw in a French decorating magazine this week: Champagne served in Louis XVI-inspired flutes, with delicate, hand calligraphed paper hearts set on the rim of each glass. You can pick up your own set of Louis XVI glasses at Maisons du Monde in Europe, or Macy’s in the States. And you can download French- style calligraphy fonts, like Ecolier or French Script, from dafont.com.

Called marque-verre in French, this idea is inexpensive and easy to reproduce, and gives a dab of Parisian flare to the most simple of celebrations.

What a great idea - it’s be so nice for place cards, especially since most guests get the champagne on their way into receptions anyway. The French-inspired font makes it that much more fun!
