Thanks Kristian. I haven't even HEARD of Fedora!! Is it fairly popular? Hmm...I'll have to ask my guru to take a look for me. Glad you enjoyed the post anyway, and thanks for the heads up!

Great article. There's a lot of good info here, though I did want to let you know something - I am running Fedora with the circulating beta of Firefox, and the design of your blog is kind of quirky for me. I can understand the articles, but the navigation doesn't function so good.

Hello !

While the Arc is one of the most-viewed horseraces in the world, its racing luster, alas, has sadly been somewhat dimmed in recent years by the Breeder's Cup in the USA. (sigh) One might say that the Arc is the finest race in the European calendar. Unfortunately, too, the Arc acts as a magnet for thousands upon thousands of British racegoers, who come over on a (drinking) weekend and flood the stands, in spite of the fact that at least one pavilion is usually reserved to them. Hence one must at all costs wangle an invitation into the "owner's enclosure" on The Day. (grin)

The Prix de Diane, which has been sponsored since 1983 by Hermes (yes, that one), is far less hoi polloi and, at least in Amerloque's view, far more fashionable … and comparable to Ascot (never fear - Amerloque is quite familiar with the events and venues, thank you. (grin)).

The Diane is run out at Chantilly on the second Sunday of June. Generally the champagne is better at Chantilly than at Ascot, but it's a tossup for the 'berries. As to the ladies fashions … out at Chantilly, c'est du vrai, et c'est le printemps …

Amerloque appreciates this blog, by the way ! Bravo !

Best,
L'Amerloque
