A Degas-inspired French Wedding Theme

degas1.jpgLast week I visited the Musée D’Orsay for the first time in ages, and I was inspired to create this next French wedding theme based on Danseuse by Edgar Degas.

Color Palette: Whites and soft creams, earthy greens and a shocking splash of cherry-red.

The Dress: You’ll look like you’ve pirouetted right out of Swan Lake in this delicate La Sposa gown with its’ ivory lace bodice and layered tulle skirt with feather accents.

The Flowers: A stunning bouquet of red and hot pink roses. Fresh red flowers create a dramatic contrast against a pure white Italian whipped-cream wedding cake as well.

The Accessories: Substitute a floral bouquet with an antique or contemporary fan for an added touch of drama. These fans from the Comédie Francaise would also make great Paris themed wedding favors for your guests.

The Venue: Many of Degas’ subjects are set onstage of the Paris Opera. Can you imagine dancing your first dance beneath the gilded chandeliers of the Grand Foyer of the Opéra Garnier?  Salons in this opulent 19th century icon can be privatized for up to 2000 guests!
