a parisian winter wedding inspiration

The latest edition of the French wedding magazine Oui has just hit the newsstands, and this issue is dedicated to Les Noces d’Hiver - winter weddings. Flipping through it, I felt inspired to put together a few ideas of my own.  Now, if you’re in Paris this week and have been basking in this 80°F Indian Summer weather, you’re probably thinking, “Winter?? Say, WHAT??”- but let me tell you, the chill will be here before you know it, so you had better get your Parisian winter fabulous-ness in gear! I’m always hyping Paris in the winter to my  wedding clients because I think it’s one of the most underplayed tourist seasons.  A Parisian Destination Wedding can’t always be about sumptuous gardens and sunset cruises along the Seine, can it ? ;) Enjoy!

letterpress stationery in paris

I’ve always found it a little surprising that  letterpress stationery was so hard to come by in Paris.  While you can find options for good quality customizable wedding invitations in any number of papeteries around Paris, the hip and stylish contemporary letterpress suites that are de rigueur on today’s American bridal and social scene just haven’t been on the radar in France. Until now.

Enter Paper + Cup Design, a New York-based stationery and graphic design company headed by husband and wife team, Minhee and Thomas Cho.  Paper + Cup specializes in letterpress invitations, note cards, journals and gift tags, with products sold through their design studio, online shop,  as well as in over 250 stores across the U.S.  When their designer, Sarah, decided to move back to her native Paris, they jumped at the opportunity to go global- and had her bring the innovative, modern, vintage-esque designs of Paper + Cup with her.  Minhee says, “We get inquiries on a regular basis from International brides as well as for many destination weddings. Our brides shared with us that there were limited stationers with the aesthetic that they are wanting from where they live. So this idea to go abroad has been stewing in our hearts for a long time.  So when we met Sarah, it was as if fate had intervened.  She’s our authentic French touch and the reason why we are able to open up shop in Paris.”

With the launch of their new bilingual French/English blog, Paper+Cup Sketchbook, and their soon-to-be-launched Paris (and London!) online shops, European and  destination brides can now add fresh and fun letterpress stationery to their wedding planning wish lists.
