More DIY French Wedding Favors

One of the (many) things that I picked up at Polly’s moving out of Paris sale the other day was a stack of Marie Claire Idées and Martha Stewart Living magazines. I know! I was totally tag-teamed and didn’t stand a chance (I also got an awesome turkey platter- whoo hoo!). Anyway, in one of the Marie Claire’s, I found some gorgeous ideas for “Thank You” gifts and wedding favors that are both charmingly French and remarkably easy to make yourself. Take a look at a few of these ways to say “merci” to your guests à la française:

French wedding favors

“thank you… for this beautiful night…beneath the stars” silver ink on mother-of-pearl and translucent paper discs, hung by raphia from a Phalaenopsis orchid.

French themed wedding favors

A hand-made pastel paper box of biscuit sablés.

French themed wedding favors

Antique linen sachets fastened with mother-of-pearl buttons and stenciled with fabric paint (filled with dragées, pot-potpourri, candies, etc.)

French themed wedding favors

Painted sandalwood fan with aubergine tassel.

Paris Luxury Wedding Salon

paris wedding salon four seasons

The countdown is on for next week’s Coulisses de Mariage. This luxury wedding salon, which highlights some of the top wedding vendors in Paris, will be held on November 21st and 22nd at the Four Seasons George V. I’ve said it lots, and I’ll say it again- if you’re even thinking about getting married in Paris, you won’t want to miss this show. And as an added bonus, if you visit madame.lefigaro.fr from now until this coming Sunday, you can enter to win tickets to the salon by answering a handful of simple questions- or you can just purchase them directly on the Coulisses de Mariage website.

Givenchy Lenotre buche de noelContinuing in the tradition of courting such design icons as Philippe Starck, Lolita Lempicka and Karl Lagerfeld, the French luxury catering and restaurant brand Lenotre has asked (my dear friend) Mr. Hubert de Givenchy to create this year’s couture Bûche de Noël. Made with exotic cocoa from Tanzania, Ghana and Sao Tome, this decadent chocolate cake is adorned with 2 crystal-clear sugar stag heads, sprinkled with 22 carat gold dust, and then tied up with a golden pulled sugar bow. Really, how can you top that? As is tradition, these cakes are only available for a limited time in Lenotre boutiques. This year they will be sold from December 19th -25th, with pre-orders starting December 3rd. Text me when you pick yours up, dahling. I’ll bring the champagne!
