I recently subscribed to yet another online wedding newsletter and I’m already hooked (I know…it doesn’t take much: just show me a couple of yummy pastel-colored cakes, a few photo montages of chic letter pressed invites, or some arty fish-eyed close-ups of votive candles or clusters of cocktail umbrellas, and I’m SOLD!) - Anyway, it’s called BFF Bridal -their tagline is “Best Friends Forever…or Until You Say IDo.” They launched last year and are based out of New York. I love this site because it’s pretty, fresh and offers up just a smidgen of really useful info at a time- For instance, in one of Augusts newsletters, they wrote about picwash.com, a website where you can upload and touch-up your personal photos like a Hollywood pro- for only 7 bucks a pop! In addition to publishing a weekly online magazine, they also offer bridal consultancy services, and have a chic little e-boutique that stocks only the top of the “it list” for bridal swag, like… monogrammed FIJI water sleeves (must…have…them…NOW!!)! BFF Bridal is hosting the upcoming “Best In Bridal”, a Receptions Showcase which will take place on Tuesday, September 25th from 6 to 9pm at The St. Regis Hotel in New York. I’m pulling together the final details for a “Think Pink”cocktail party next month, and I’m trying to pin down the Ultimate Girlie Froo Froo Drink. My criteria are:
Must Be Pink
Must look good in a martini glass
Must be made of easily-found ingredients (i.e. the corner Franprix, or at least a medium-sized Monoprix…)
Must be easy to make (no egg whites or sweet and sour mix, etc. I want to be able to pour all of the goodies straight out of a bottle over ice and serve it up!)
Must be deelish-ously potent!
I’ve been mixing and sampling since last Friday, and after having sampled such yummies as Pink Russians (too milky), Pink Dangers (too sweet), Fluffy Pink Slippers (TOO girlie), among others (hic!) I have narrowed it down to Le Final Four. Here are the recipes. Toss on that old pink boa and mix up a couple of batches- and be sure to drop me a line and tell me what you think is the Ultimate Pink Cocktail:
PINK LEMONADE
1 1/2 oz lemon flavored vodka
1 splash grenadine syrup
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp sugar
Shake with ice, and serve in a cocktail glass.
PINK IGUANA
1 oz peach vodka
1 oz coconut rum
1/4 - 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz cranberry juice
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake and strain into a martini cocktail glass with a thin disk of lime floating in drink, and serve.
PINK-N-TART (so far, this one’s leading!!)
1 1/2 oz rum
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp lime juice
1 1/2 tsp grenadine syrup
Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass
PINK PROZAC
2 oz. lemon flavored vodka
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/4 oz. fresh lime juice
3 oz. grapefruit juice
splash cranberry.
Shake and strain.
Serve in chilled cocktail glass with lemon twist garnish.
Let’s play pretend: Pretend that you knew me, and that you knew my real birthday* was coming up, and you wanted to get me the perfect gift- one that I would never forget and that would symbolize the unbreakable bond between us forever. What would you get me? Hmmm…. would you get me:
No, maybe you want to get me a gift that keeps on giving… How about….
This “nécessaire a thé” that I saw in the window of Goyard a while back? Not really necessary, you think? Hmm, maybe not- but what about…
This black resin and and platinum “writing instrument” from Mont Blanc? It even has my birthstone on the cap- See? Don’t like me that much, you say? OK…I got it! What about…..
This gorgeous “Cabochon” ring by Daum? You can’t go wrong with this treasure!
Well, I’m just throwing these out there. You’ve still got a few more weeks to make up your mind. Don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you think that you may be onto something good!! Until then-
