Choosing Your Destination Wedding Photographer

mariage-chambault-samson.jpgI was reading a discussion on an online wedding Message Board the other day about things to consider when you’re choosing a wedding photographer. The conversation made me realize (again) how different it is planning local weddings vs destination ones. One thing that I think is very important, and that I don’t think many people take into consideration, is whether the photographer (or any destination vendor, really) is accustomed to working with Americans. American brides are a completely different breed than brides from many other cultures. For instance, I have known more than one photographer who was completely turned off when presented with a “Wedding Photo Checklist” by an American bride. Before you hire a destination vendor, it’s so important to be clear about your expectations. If you prefer that they work from a checklist, present it briefly (either by email or in person) early on in the process, and then again in more detail as you near your wedding day. How to Create a Bombay Palace on a Shoestring

indian-centerpiece.jpgAs I mentioned a few weeks (Months? Already??) ago, I am obsessed with all things Bollywood, and wanted to share my obsession with my family and friends during my visit to Chicago with a Bollywood Birthday Bash. Well, my party was last Saturday, and I have to admit- it was a BLAST! Since we had paid a fortune on airline tickets to come to Chicago, I didn’t have much money to spend on the party, but I really wanted to have a fun, memorable “__th” birthday. Schubas is a very typical Chicago tavern with dark wooden bars and tables, t.v.’s in the corners to broadcast the Cubbies, a “chill out” area with brown leather club chairs, and the classic tin ceiling that you find in a lot of Chicago bars. When you rent their party room, you are restricted to ordering off of their menu: buffalo wings, quesadillas, popcorn shrimp, etc- not exactly Bombay Palace fare… Continue reading ‘How to Create a Bombay Palace on a Shoestring’

WHO got married WHERE?

The media is in a frenzy and the paparazzi is still going mad. It was the biggest Franco-American Parisian wedding in a decade, and just where was your resident “American wedding planner in Paris”?…

In CHICAGO, baby!!!

Outside, it’s 95° in the shade, so I’m inside in the A/C goodness, all bundled up under a chic, camel-colored Pottery Barn throw, watching TOO much T.V. coverage of the Longoria - Parker nuptials. There’s absolutely nothing that I could add that E!, Entertainment Tonight, or Access Hollywood hasn’t already told you- the sweet Chanel mini-dress, the Angel Sanchez gown, the Van Cleef and Arpels bridesmaids gifts…it’s all there- Google it, cuz I’m off to Oak Street for a little shoe shopping! Bisous!!
