Last week I had the pleasure of organizing a lunch and vernissage hosted by the President of the Mona Bismarck Foundation for an exhibition that they are presenting with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The exhibition is called Exploratrices Intrépides and features the work of 2 women- Margaret Mee and Marianne North. Margaret Mee was a world-renowned botanical artist and conservationist who spent over thirty years traveling through the Amazon rain forest (well into her 70’s, I might add) painting and collecting rare species of flowers. If you’re planning a wedding in Paris, and you’re stumped for a gift idea for your your groomsmen, dad, best man or hubby-to-be, try taking a trip to La Monnaie de Paris, the French Mint! Located at 11, Quai de Conti in the 6th, the gift shop of the museum is a treasure trove of chic, kitschy, elegant or just plain kooky knick-knacks mostly built around the theme of money. I’ve sifted through the bizarre and found a few items that would make really nice gifts for the guys:
